Sometimes you need to step away from the work to understand the work.
When you’re constantly producing, it’s easy to confuse movement with progress.
You keep adding.
Revising.
Publishing.
Starting the next thing.
But a little distance can reveal what constant activity hides.
You may realize an idea isn’t as strong as you thought.
You may discover that something needs more time.
You may see that you’ve been solving the wrong problem.
Or you may return with a clearer understanding of what deserves your attention.
A pause isn’t necessarily an interruption to the creative process.
Sometimes it’s part of the process.
Don’t be afraid of the space between projects.
Pay attention to what becomes visible there.
The work may have something to teach you when you’re finally quiet enough to notice.
