When you’re stuck, the instinct is usually to search for a better answer.
Sometimes you need a better question.
Why isn’t this working?
can become:
What is this actually trying to become?
How do I fix this?
can become:
What is the real problem here?
How do I make this better?
can become:
What does this work actually need?
The quality of your questions shapes the quality of the decisions that follow.
That’s true in writing.
Music.
Film.
Business.
And almost every other creative discipline.
You can spend hours solving the wrong problem.
You can work incredibly hard toward the wrong destination.
Sometimes progress begins when you stop pushing for an answer and become curious about the question itself.
Don’t just work harder.
Think better.
And when the work feels stuck, ask whether you’re asking the right question.
