Some things can be understood quickly.
Creative mastery usually can’t.
You have to stay with the craft long enough to notice what beginners don’t see.
Stay with the song until you hear what’s missing.
Stay with the manuscript until the unnecessary words become obvious.
Stay with the film until the story begins to reveal what it actually wants to be.
Stay with the problem after the easy answers run out.
Depth takes time because it requires you to move beyond what is immediately visible.
In a world that constantly encourages us to move on to the next thing, there is still tremendous value in staying.
Some of your best work may be hiding behind the decision to keep going.
